Vintage Solitaire Games

Here's what you'll need to play:
Internet browser: Netscape 6.2 or Internet Explorer 6
A copy of the free Flash 5 plug-in: Download Flash 5
A computer with a 300MHz or above processor
And you need to have "JavaScript" or "Scripting" enabled.

   Go to play Pong
Pong
Infamous worldwide because the graphics are so pathetic. But it thankfully has a high cheeze factor - it's so poor that it becomes good!!

This fresh version of Pong uses the mouse as a paddle.
The object of game is to beat your opponent (the computer in this case) by ponging the ball with your paddle, as in real tennis. The first player to reach a score of nine wins the game.

Why are the paddles so hard to control? That's the whole point - you need the skill, otherwise it would be too easy...

    Go to play Snake
Snake
You've probably annoyed your mates by draining their mobile phone batteries whilst playing this game. So play it online instead!

Direct your snake towards the grub using the Arrow Keys.
The Space Bar can be used to pause and start the game.
You have three levels to choose from:
Slug = Easy Snake
Worm = Harder Snake
Python = Ha!

    Go to play Pacman
Pacman
The little yellow blob roams around a maze being spooked by ghosts and popping pills. No wonder this webgame's staggeringly addictive.

Guide the "Pac-man" around the maze using the arrow keys.

These keys can also be used for playing:
P = Pause/unpause game
Q = Quit game
M = Mute/unmute all sounds
L = Low quality on/off

If the game is running slowly, try muting the sound and using low quality.

    Go to play Space Invaders
Space Invaders
The grandaddy of retro gaming. We all know how irritating aliens can be, but not more so than when they start wobbling at you.

You can move the laser base using these controls on the keyboard:
Space Bar
= Fire laser
Left Arrow = Move left
Right Arrow = Move right
If you hit the UFO, you're rewarded with a "mystery" bonus score. It's game over after 3 lives, or if the invaders overrun the barracks. And you only get one shot at a time, so make sure you hit that target!

    Go to play Hexxagon
Hexxagon
A replica of the great game based on a slightly wonky version of Othello and Ataxx. Unleash your plasma - you know you want to.

Hexxagon is a straightforward mouse point-n-click game, but if you like to be awkard, you can use the tab key.Shift your little pieces around the board by selecting them, and then choosing your destination. Doubling and jumping moves are shown either by a green or yellow highlight.

   Go to play Simon
Simon
This one will test your memory to the limit, if not your sanity. See for how long you can remember the sequence of lights.

Use your mouse to click on the lights after you have been shown the sequence to follow.
You can also use the following keys:
G = Green light
Y = Yellow light
B = Blue light
R = Red light

    Go to play Tetris
Tetris
Flex your tessellation muscle and get those falling blocks into place sharpish. It fulfils every need - very addictive yet totally futile.

You can move your pieces while they fall using the Arrow Keys:

Left Arrow
= Shift left
Right Arrow = Shift right
Down Arrow = Quick drop

Rotate your pieces with these keys:
X or PageDown = Rotate clockwise
Z or End = Rotate Counter-clockwise

Other controls are:
P = Pause game
Q = Quit game
M = Toggle music

   Go to play Tic Tac Toe
Tic Tac Toe
Not exactly retro, but it is a class game so had to be included. And this version will save you room on fogged-up windows.

Just point 'n' click on the squares to place your X.
Obviously, you can't put your X into a square that's already occupied.
